Sitting in the Virgin lounge at Canberra Airport, looking out in trepidation. After more than a year of decent return flights from this airport the skies are again dark with rain and the wind is blowing hard. And I am flying in the shaky Embraer. It’s a fear of remission of my fear of turbulence, especially with the Japan flights in a week’s time.
Of course I’m not actually feeling any turbulence right now, sitting on a comfortable armchair, sipping hot tomato and basil soup, with a great outlook over the runway. Qantas 737-400’s landing and taking off, a government business jet landing on the cross runway and a Royal Brunei 777 parked at the airforce base.
